Hi, I'm Fernando Teixeira — a software engineer for over 18 years, focused on Java backends and large-scale distributed systems. Almost always close to money: payment platforms and critical financial systems.
Today I'm a Tech Lead / Staff Software Engineer at F1RST, Santander Brasil's technology company, where I lead the development of Pix Automático (recurring receivables) — a product mandated by the Brazilian Central Bank, with a regulatory deadline and a direct integration with BACEN.
Along the way I worked at PicPay (microservices for calculating and paying investment yields), Dasa (a messaging platform and the Kubernetes cluster behind the group's WhatsApp Business API), e-Core, Indra (the Brazilian Payment System) and others — always in backend, architecture and technical leadership.
Day to day it's Java and Kotlin, Spring, Apache Kafka and Camel, Kubernetes and the cloud (AWS and GCP), designing resilient, scalable, event-driven platforms. The topics I care about most: hexagonal architecture, event-driven design, high availability, high-volume processing, Pix and the SPB.
This blog is where I write down what I learn doing it: best practices, object-oriented design and the craft of writing good code — from Object Calisthenics to architecture decisions with explicit tradeoffs. The goal is to show the reasoning, not just the recipe.
